SENATOR Miriam Defensor Santiago’s health condition continues to improve and her pneumonia is already under control, her staff said Sunday.
According to the post of her staff on Santiago’s official Twitter account, the senator is feeling better.
“@senmiriam’s pneumonia is under control and she is feeling better. Thank you,” her staff tweeted.
Santiago was discharged from the Makati Medical Center on June 7 after being confined for seven days.
The feisty senator was rushed to the hospital on May 30 after developing pneumonia, a complication of her stage-four lung cancer.
The senator was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014. She has been on a trial-medication program since then.
Santiago celebrated her 71st birthday on June 15.
In her Twitter message, the senator thanked her supporters and friends who sent birthday greetings. She also thanked the Creator for giving her the opportunity to serve the country and for being blessed with a happy family and good friends for the past 71 years.
“I have said this before, and I will say it again: All things work for good to those who love God,” she tweeted.
