Filipino-American mixed martial arts (MMA) featherweight fighter Harris Sarmiento will face Brazillian Herbert Burns in his debut bout in One Fighting Championship on March 14. The latest edition of One FC, titled War of Nations, will be held at the Negara Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 30-year-old Sarmiento (36-25 win-loss slate), who just finished his contract with another MMA league Pacific X-Treme Combat, is excited to test his mettle against the 25-year-old Brazilian submission specialist Burns (2-0 slate).
“This will be an exciting new chapter of my MMA career and I have to train hard and smarter,” said the 5’8 Sarmiento, whose mother is an Ilocano. “I will just do whatever it takes to win. But I’m expecting Burns to fight tough.”
Burns, an adept in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, is coming off from an impressive rear naked choke win against Filipino fighter Edward Kelly in the last edition of One FC in Manila in December.
Sarmiento is aiming to join the ranks of top featherweight fighters in the region like Vuyisile Colossa, Lowen Tynanes, Eddie Ng and his compatriot Eduard Folayang.
