A FOREIGN terrorist is reportedly training members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and the shadowy Kihilafa Islamiya Movement (KIM) in guerilla warfare in an undisclosed location in Central Mindanao, a source from the intelligence community revealed on Wednesday.
The ASG and KIM are among the militant groups in southern Philippines that have already pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that has occupied territories in the Middle East.
ISIS is now knocking at the doorstep of Turkey, a known mortal enemy of Sunni Muslims, who compose the majority of its members.
The source from the intelligence community, who asked not to be named, identified the foreign terrorist as Abdurahaman, a Saudi Arabian and a member of the Indonesia-based terror group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI)
Like the Abu Sayyaf and KIM, JI has also pledges allegiance to ISIS that is now subject of air attack by western forces led by the US.
The source, who uses the code name of “Pokemon,” said Abdurahman has been staying in the country for many years.
The source added that Abdurahman is married to a Tausug and residing at a mosque near a mall in Davao City.
Abdurahman is reportedly training ASG and KIM members in urban guerilla warfare.
“The training is being held in Lanao del Sur,” the source said but declined to say how many local militants have undergone training with Abdurahaman.
The source added that KIM has reportedly received funding from a support group from Saudi Arabia.
The source could not say how the Saudi Arabian was able to enter the Philippines but that the foreigner is still in the country and enjoys protection from militant groups.
The source gave a copy of Abdurahman’s photograph that was extracted from mobile phones of an ASG bandit who was recently killed in a gunbattle with government security forces in Sulu.
