AN Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandit involved in the kidnapping of an American more than a decade ago was killed in encounter on Monday in a remote village in Sulu, police reports said.
Initial reports at the Philippine National Police (PNP) operations center in Camp Crame identified the slain bandit as Jarrin Hajan with aliases of Abu and Fraser.
The reports said Hajan was killed in an encounter with elite police commandos that swooped down his lair at around 1:10 a.m. at Barangay Luwas, Parang, Sulu.
Combined elements of PNP Special Action Force 52nd Special Action Coy and Sulu provincial police office were out to serve out a warrant of arrest for kidnap for ransom against Hajan, reports said.
Hajan has standing warrants of arrest for 21 counts of serious illegal detention for ransom.
Hajan was reportedly involved in the kidnapping in the early 2000’s of American Jeffrey Schilling who was suspected by ASG as a Central Intelligence Agency agent.
