ZAMBOANGA CITY: Suspected Abu Sayyaf militants killed three government soldiers in a daring attack in Indanan town in Sulu on Thursday.
Officials said the attackers fled after killing the soldiers, who were buying food in the village of Manilop.
The identities of the slain soldiers were not made available by the military, but officials said they were all members of the Field Artillery Battalion attached to the Marine
Battalion Landing Team-10 battling the Abu Sayyaf in the province.
Soldiers responded to the attack site and recovered the bodies that were brought to the military base in Jolo.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack, but the military has blamed the Abu Sayyaf for the killings.
The assault on the soldiers occurred a day after a civilian was killed and two infantrymen were wounded in clashes between the troops and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Datu Unsay town in Maguindanao.
