DINALUPIHAN, Bataan: Employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) held prayer vigils on Thursday to ask President Benigno Aquino 3rd to approve and implement the Salary Standardization Law (SSL) in the premiere Freeport. After the prayer, leaders of the SBMA Employees Association (SEA) took turns in appealing to the President to remind him that the SBMA workers were not given any salary increase since 2007. They claimed that highly-skilled technical workers do not last long at the SBMA because of its current state. Ameth Cobal, SBMA planning & development department head, said they were not asking for salary increase but for just compensation under the SSL. She said that funds will not come from the national government but from SBMA. She added that workers remain poor because of Aquino’s failure to look into their plight. The SBMA has 2,760 employees under regular plantilla and contract service.
