The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) wants top players from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to join the tryout for the Philippine basketball team competing in the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) in Myanmar in December.

SBP Executive Director Sonny Barrios said that interested parties must submit their names before the October 10 deadline.

Those already in the SBP list are naturalized player 6’11 Marcus Douthit, Jake Pascual, Ronald Pascual, Garbo Lanete, Kevin Alas, RR Garcia, Matt Granuelas, Kiefer Ravena, reigning UAAP MVP Terrence Romeo, Chris Newsome, Mark Belo, Roy Sumang, Arnold Van Opstal, Prince Caperal, Kevin Ferrer and Jericho Cruz.

Also invited by the SBP are 6’7 Raymund Almazan, Chris Banchero, and two-time UAAP MVP Bobby Ray Parks.

The team will be under the tutelage of coaches Jong Uichico and Nash Racela of Far Eastern University.

The Philippine team is looking forward to retaining the title for the ninth straight year since the 1991 SEAG. There were no basketball tournaments in the 2005 and 2009 editions of the meet.
