THE Supreme Court (SC) denied the petition for judicial clemency by a former court stenographer in Makati City, Victoria Jamora, who was dismissed for grave misconduct in 2010. In a ruling promulgated by Clerk of Court Felipa Anama on April 5, 2016 but released only recently, the tribunal, however, granted the appeal of Jamora by lifting her disqualification from reemployment in any branch of the government, including government-owned and controlled corporations. “However, in so far as Jamora’s prayer for the release of her retirement benefits is concerned, the same is hereby denied.” The Court pointed out that “the court is not an enemy of those who sincerely repented and reformed, and wished to continue to serve the public.” On August 23, 2010, Jamora was found guilty of grave misconduct for attesting in the monthly reports from November 5 to March 2007 that there was no marriage solemnized by then Judge Evelyn Arcaya-Chua despite the fact that there were 1,068 marriages recorded.
