SC designates new deputy clerk of court for en banc

The Supreme Court (SC) has designated a new Deputy Clerk of Court for the en banc which shall assist in all the cases before the SC, including the controversial cases of Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares and the upcoming disqualification of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in the May 9, 2016 presidential elections.

This after the three Chairpersons of the three divisions of the SC signed the Memorandum appointing Atty. Anna-Li R. Papa-Gombio.

The Memorandum Order No 04-2016 was signed by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P. Aranal Sereno, along with Senior Associate Justices Antonio T. Carpio and Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr.

Sereno is the Chairperson of the SC First Division, while Carpio chairs the Second Division and Velasco sits as Chair of the Third Division.

“Now, Therefore, the undersigned, for and in behalf of the Supreme Court, by virtue of and pursuant to the power and authority vested in them in the revised Resolution in AM No. 99-12-08-SC, do hereby appoint Atty. Anna-Li R. Papa-Gombio as Deputy Clerk of Court of Court en banc, with the rank, salary and privileges pertaining thereto,” the memorandum said.

Papa-Gombio is a product of the Ateneo Law School and has been in the Office of the SC en banc Clerk of Court for more than 20 years now.

The Deputy Clerk of Court has the authority to promulgate resolutions and decisions of the SC en banc in the absence of the Clerk of Court.

Papa-Gombio has notched the said position in view of the vacancy incurred on July 14, 2015 after Atty. Felipa B. Anama was promoted as Clerk of Court of the SC en banc.

Anama succeeded Atty. Enriqueta E. Vidal who retired last year. PNA
