SC grants GMA birthday furlough

The Supreme Court on Tuesday has granted the plea of former president and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for a five-day furlough in her home in La Vista, Quezon City for her 69th birthday on April 5. In an en banc session, the SC allowed the former president to celebrate her birthday for three days only, instead of her original plea for five days. In a motion filed by her lawyer, former justice secretary Agnes Devanadera, Arroyo appeals “anew to the humanity of the Honorable Supreme Court and asks that she be granted a similar furlough for her birthday on April 5, 2016. She wishes to celebrate her birthday at home with family and friends. [She] is not getting any younger. She will be turning 69 this April 5.”
