SC grants justice’s plea for longevity pay

THE Supreme Court (SC) has granted the request of retired Associate Justice Amelita Gacutan of the Court of Appeals that her services as National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Commissioner be included in the computation of her longevity pay. In a full court ruling by Associate Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, the Court resolved to grant the Motion for Reconsideration of Gacutan as it modified its resolution dated June 16, 2015. Gacutan submitted that the Court approval that her services in the NLRC (as of 2006) be included in computing her longevity pay would be a reward for her past continuous services as a lifelong public servant who retired from the judiciary.
