• SC summons ex-Napoles lawyer for TV remarks

THE former lawyer of suspected pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim- Napoles is being summoned by the Supreme Court (SC) to explain her remarks in a TV interview alleging corruption in the Court.

In a resolution dated November 26 but released only recently to the public, the Court gave Kapunan 10 days to explain her answers to questions posed by Anthony Taberna on ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda show five days earlier.

Taberna had asked Kapunan: “May kilala po ba kayong justice ng Supreme Court na nababayaran?” (Do you know any Supreme Court justice who accepts bribes?)
Kapunan answered “Opo” (Yes), adding she also knows about corruption in the Court of Appeals.

“I am told that a restraining order in the CA (Court of Appeals) can be as much as 5 million [pesos],” Kapunan said.

Kapunan has represented celebrity clients, including actor-model Hayden Kho when he was implicated in a sex-video scandal.

Kapunan was a law partner of the late Senator Raul Roco.

The SC resolution was signed by Clerk of Court Enriqueta E. Vidal.

Hanga ako sa pahayag ni att. Kapunan…but that is a serious accusations . Dapat muna syang magpakita ng ebidensya lalo na itoy makakasira hindi lamang sa nabanggit na institution kundi sa pangkalahatang sistema . The people of the republic can accept any trials in any forms except this system of corruptions that directly bound to put them to poverty. It is not proper to view this kind of allegations in the public without proof or evidences na maaring mag udyok ng kaguluhan lalo na sa panahon na ang bansa ay nanggaling sa isang mabigat na pagsubok ng kalikasan. I am not saying that we should not be vigilant dahil sa sitwasyon natin ngaun kundi maging maingat sana tayo at maging responsible sa bawat salita na maaring maglugmok sa atin sa higit pang kahirapan at magpapalala sa kalagayan ng bansa.

    2. I believe that corruption is everywhere in the Philippines but Atty. Kapunan categorically stating that there is corruption in the Supreme Court of the Philippines and she continued that 5 million pesos will get you a restraining order from the Court of Appeals….. Her remarks to Anthony Taberna is bold and courageous.

If she has evidences, she should turn it over to the DOJ for investigation. Remember also that as a lawyer of Napoles, she said to the media that the bank accounts of the senators and congressmen involved in PDAP should be frozen. Her statement was baseless and without reason considering that there is no plunder cases against these senators and congressmen.

She is well known lawyer but talks too much and talks nonsense. Wala pa namang kaso ang mga senador at congressmen para sabihin niyang i-freeze ang mga bank accounts ng mga taong ito. She pretends to know much, but Napoles did not spill the beans.

    3. Good! Why only now? The SC must know about those corrupt judges but opted to keep silent. Kudos to Atty Kapunan for speaking her mind. Other lawyers must have known the fact too, but kept silent because it was favorable for their clients.

IMO, kaya sya pinatawag ng SC dahil yung sinabi nya sa interview ay nakakasira sa perception ng tao sa SC at hindi sa may alam syang corruption. Pag di sya sumipot, makakasuhan sya ng contempt of court.
