SC suspends ‘Alabang Boys’ lawyer


THE Supreme Court (SC) has penalized the controversial lawyer of the “Alabang Boys” for preparing the release order of the suspects using the letterhead of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the stationery of then Secretary Raul Gonzales in 2008. In full court ruling led by Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, the tribunal found Atty. Felisberto Verano guilty of violating Rules 1.02 and 15.07, in relation to Canon 13 of the Code of Profes–sional Responsibility, for which “he is suspended from practice of law for six (6) months effective immediately”. The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Dante Jimenez and Lauro Vizconde of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption.
