• SC suspends lawyer for failure To answer complaint

THE Supreme Court (SC) has suspended a lawyer – Alexander Del Prado – from the practice of law for five years for his failure to answer the complaint of a litigant despite several notices. The full court ruling stemmed from the complaint of Myrna Deveza charging that Del Prado bought her 633.80 square meters lot in Barangay Pagasa, Camarin in Caloocan City (Metro Manila) for P1,500 per square meters on installment basis in which Del Prado defaulted to pay the balance of P565,950. The SC held that Del Prado wantonly disregarded the lawful orders of the Court and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) to file his comment and position paper and to appear in the mandatory conference despite due notice.
