Scania is celebrating 125 years of innovation in 2016. From its founding as a privately-owned wagon-building company in Sweden back in 1891 to today’s connected vehicles, Scania has emerged as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, and of industrial and marine engines.
“Our customers’ best profitability is our focus. In order to achieve that, Scania have always been and continues to be at the cutting-edge of technology in providing sustainable transport solutions,” said Marie Sjödin Enström, managing director of Scania Southeast Asia.
In the Philippines, Scania is also celebrating its first year of doing business. It sold its very first truck one month before the official launch of its showroom last February 2015. Since then, Scania has been slowly gaining momentum as the preferred supplier for long-haul trucks, and trucks used for mining and construction. New additions to the fleet are the Scania R560, which sports a V8 engine and is designed to meet the highest demands in the world for fuel economy, driver appeal and reliability. The company has also begun to introduce used trucks.
Apart from that, Scania offers a complete range of buses and coaches for public transport operators and coach companies. It is now taking a foothold in power generation engines. Scania Gensets deliver outstanding fuel economy and uptime. With superior quality and proven reliability, it ́s the optimal equipment for generating electricity.
“The local market’s response is very encouraging,” said Leilani Lim-Tan, vice president of BJ Mercantile Inc., the local distributor of Scania. “We are excited to announce that we will be able to surpass this year’s target of selling 125 units in celebration of Scania’s 125th anniversary. On behalf of Scania, we would like to thank all our customers, with some coming all the way from Visayas, for their continued support.”
Scania seeks to raise the bar in the local transport industry. From the introduction of Euro 4 compliant engines, to driver training and service excellence, the company is set to launch Scania Fleet Management that allows business owners to take control of their fleet and get the most out of their business. Scania Fleet Management allows for full fleet data on all vehicles and connecting data on vehicles and drivers to map location in real time, helping customers achieve up to 10-percent fuel economy.
Scania’s showroom is located at 1132 EDSA Balintawak, Quezon City.
