Eleven-year-old banana cue vendor Elha Nympha of Team Bamboo was declared grand champion of the second season of The Voice Kids, after receiving 42.16 percent of the public votes during the program’s grand finals at the Newport Performing Theater in Resorts World Manila.
“I’m happy and I didn’t expect to win. I’m very happy because it’s my first time to win in this kind of competition,” said the talented little lady in Filipino.
Elha, Bamboo’s first artist to win the top-rating singing competition, beat three other finalists Reynan Dal-anay and Esang De Torres from Team Lea, as well as fellow Team Bamboo artist Sassa Dagdag.
“I just truly believe she deserves it. The right thing I did this season was turn for her. I was the only one who turned for her (in the blind auditions). That’s quite a story. No one saw her coming, and then at some point, I knew I had someone very special,” said her proud mentor and top Filipino rock star.
As the newest The Voice Kids grand champion, Elha won a recording contract from MCA Music Inc., a music instrument package, a shopping spree, a family utility vehicle, a house and lot worth P2 million, P1 million cash, and a P1 million trust fund.
The grand finals was also a star-studded evening with OPM stars like Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, and Jed Madela performing duets with the contestants, as well as TV host and rapper Billy Crawford.
