SEVERAL schools in Metro Manila suspended their respective classes on Tuesday after the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that heavy rains brought by Tropical Cyclone Emong are expected to shower the metro.
Private and public schools in San Juan City and Manila started canceling their classes after receiving directive from their respective mayors. Also, Mayor Alfredo Lim of Manila allowed the city hall employees to leave work early except employees working under the flood control and traffic management division.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas announced in its twitter account that it will suspend its afternoon classes from elementary to college level before the start of the downpour. UST is located in Espana, Manila which is often affected by flooding.
Other school that suspended classes on Tuesday were Saint Jude Catholic School Manila (all levels), St. Scholastica’s College (all levels), San Sebastian College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Sta. Mesa Campus, City College of Manila, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Philippine College of Criminology, Far Eastern University, Philippine Women’s University, De La Salle University, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, Adamson University, University of the East- Manila campus, Manila Central University, University of the Philippines – Manila campus and Greatways Technical Institute in Makati.
