Did you know that Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara comes from a prominent family in the Bicol Region known for an extensive chain of movie houses, which continues to exist today?
In Albay, everyone knows the brand,
A. Bichara Silver Screens Entertainment Center.
“The Bichara family first started in the movie house business way back in 1923 all across Bicol,” the governor shared with pride and fondness.
Building quite a good fortune on this, several members of the clan developed the desire to give back to the public that have patronized their cinemas throughout the years, and did so via government service.
“My grandfather was a Councilor of Naga City, my father was a Board Member and OIC Vice Governor of Albay Province, while my uncle—the youngest brother of my mom—was Mayor of Naga City for eight years,” Bichara shared.
