• Scores injured in Makati jail ruckus

ABOUT 30 inmates were injured in a commotion that occurred during a huge noise barrage held by inmates at the Makati City Jail Tuesday night that lasted until Wednesday morning.

Around 60 members of the Special Tactics and Response team of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), with the help of local police and firemen, responded to stop the protest of over 500 prisoners.

The inmates lamented the alleged anomalies in the penitentiary, including the selling of illegal drugs by BJMP employees, bad food and inhumane treatment of detainees.

The tension only eased at 6 a.m. on Wednesday when medical staff were allowed to enter the detention cells to aid the wounded prisoners.

Some inmates were transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City (Metro Manila) following the tension.

Officials of the Makati City Jail have yet to release a statement on the incident, while the local government ordered the investigation of the inmates’ grievances.

BJMP employees selling illegal drugs? They should be arrested and put behind bars immediately, while awaiting trial. Deny bail petitions to any of these suspects and have them go under intensive interrogation. Apply all the interrogation techniques, to include sleep deprivation and water boarding in order for an interrogator to extract information. Lalambot sigurado mga ito kung ako ang mag interrogate sa kanila.

Bad food and inhuman condition? These criminals are fed by taxpayers money and it seems like they are demanding a condition like living in CONDO and be fed like executives. They should cut down their meals to twice a day and for those rich prisoners, they should pay or buy their own food. I would make them think and feel that criminals are not to be treated like VIPs regardless of who they are.

If Duterte is lucky enough to become the President of the Republic, he promised that on his first 30 days, prisons population will be reduced tremendously, because they will be boarded on a ship, and the destination is top secret, a nation’s secret that must be guarded and protected at all cost.
