THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) under chairman Richie Garcia announced that the cash incentives of all medallists in the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar will be released today.
Garcia said a total of P7, 690, 000 will be handed to 29 gold medalists, 34 silver and 37 bronze medalists after the thanksgiving mass at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Based on Republic Act 9064, a gold medal is worth P100,000, while a silver medal is P50,000, and a bronze is P10,000. For the coaches, the gold medal is P50,000, silver medal is P25,000 and bronze medal is P10,000.
The PSC gets funding from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. through National Sports Development Fund. Double-gold medallists Archand Christian Bagsit of athletics and Princess Superal of golf lead the lineup of medallists in the biennial meet.
Bagsit ruled the 400-meter run and was part of the 4x400m relay champion team while Superal grabbed the women’s individual top honors then steered the Philippines to a team championships.
