The Western Mindanao Command on Sunday announced that its search-and-blockade efforts for the gunmen that kidnapped a Chinese tourist and Filipino hotel staff in Sabah are concentrated on the waters off Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
The group, believed to be Abu Sayyaf brigands, stormed a Sabah diving resort last April 3.
Western Mindanao Command head Lt. Gen. Rustico Guerrero did not reveal any more details, saying their efforts are ongoing.
Guerrero added that they are verifying reports that the kidnappers have landed somewhere in Sulu or Tawi-Tawi.
“That (information) is from our own informants and some residents but we still have to confirm that,” Guerrero said.
