Young booters will get the opportunity to experience world-class football training through Globe Telecom’s TM Sports Para Sa Bayan football program.
Twelve children across the country will be selected to train in Malaysia and Barcelona, Spain if they pass the clinic’s assessment, which will be based on skills and talent as well as attitude.
Various football clinics will be conducted in Manila, Leyte, Vigan, and Negros Occidental to select promising football players.
The clinic will feature training programs for children aged 10 to 12 and 14 years old and above.
“Our objective for doing this is to give the children a chance for higher learning, to form their values in their formative years and develop a healthy lifestyle,” said Rofil Magto, Globe’s citizenship manager for Corporate Communication on Thursday at the launch at Aristocrat in Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
Professional football team Green Archers United (GAU) will run the clinic.
“Selection of kids is not just technical. What is important is their attitude. We are looking for kids who have humility and attitude to learn. Also, children with determination, sportsmanship, teamwork and know the value of hard work,” said GAU assistant manager Deeg Rodriguez.
Six boys and six girls who will meet the qualifications will be sent to Astro Kasih’s Kem Bola advanced training in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 26 to 30.
Consequently, the top six participants from the Malaysian camp will get a two-week professional training under the FC Barcelona in Spain later this year.
The camp, which started last month in Manila and Leyte, will continue on Saturday in Vigan, and in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on July 29.
Rodriguez said that three young booters from Manila, namely Joenard Erojo, Princess Lovely Magbago, and Cesar de Torres Jr., and four from Leyte were already shortlisted.
