A security guard assigned to the Quezon City Office of the Executive Judge Hall of Justice was arrested in an entrapment at Philcoa Overpass on Commonwealth Avenue in Diliman, Quezon City, on Friday.
The chief of the Anti-Organized Crime Unit reported to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Benjamin Magalong that unit operatives received information that the suspect, Jic Muana Florentino, pilfered firearms from the evidence room of the Hall of Justice and tried to sell them to a prospective buyer.
Magalong said the suspect was caught in the act of selling to a poseur buyer a customized .45-caliber Remington Rand pistol with court evidence markings “FAT-1” and a holster with court evidence markings “CC-02509355 People of the Philippines vs. Añonuevo.”
He added that two magazines and 50 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, 1,029 pieces of P1,000 replica bills used as marked money and an XRM Honda motorcycle with attached plate “Judiciary” were confiscated from Florentino.
Magalong said the suspect tried to elude arrest aboard his motorcycle but detectives were able to collar him.
Florentino is in the custody of the operating team and awaits charges to be filed against him.
