DAVAO CITY: Security has been tightened at the Digos City Police Office following the arrest of a top-ranking leader of the New People’s Army on Sunday at the old terminal of Poblacion, Digos City. Supt. Jun Neil Rojo, chief of the Digos police, said an augmentation force from the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office and the 39th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army would help the local police prevent any attempt from the rebel group to break Maria Loyda Magpatoc, 52, alias Kumander Gwen, secretary of the Far South Mindanao Regional Committee out of prison. Magpatoc carries a bounty of P500,000 for her arrest based on the posters sent to police stations, and government checkpoints.
