It has been said that beautiful things don’t just happen. To have a beautiful home, it takes a lot of wisdom, patience, and creativity to make it beautiful. For most of us, it is a hobby, but for Senna Susan Esteves De Mesa, it is an art form.
The woman behind SED Probuild Concepts Inc, formerly SED Interior Designs, has long been known for her creative way of seeing and completing projects in means that are uniquely her own.
Before SED was established in 2012, Senna’s talents were already recognized by her family and friends. It was through their encouragement that she decided to open her own firm, “I was always working on personal projects for family and friends but because of the high demand from referrals, I decided to open up my own firm.”
Her firm, which is made up of competent interior designers and licensed architects to collaborate in the creation of the living spaces that are not hard on the pockets, “It was my passion for design and my eye for beauty led me to put up this business. We also wanted projects that were friendly to the pocket.”
In less than a year upon opening, SED was able to turn over several housing and condominium unit projects to satisfied homeowners. When asked where her love for design stemmed from, she was quick to credit her mother, “It is from my mother who loves beautiful surroundings. Her creativity in styling our house was always complimented by visitors and it enhanced my passion for arts and designs.”
She easily recalls the beginning of her business, “It was never easy. You have to deal with trial and error, creativity and innovation. We need to anticipate technological challenges, adapt to it, master it, excel, and then be open to new influences, all in a very short time. The challenge always lies in being able to make great work, stay relevant, and stand out.”
The inspiration, she says, roots from her vision for the company and who it benefits, “I have always had an advocacy to create something that is both inspiring and empowering wherein a certain percentage from its income will be beneficiary to those charities who are in need.”
A proud mother of three, her best work she believes is seeing her projects come to life, “I am most proud when clients are satisfied and happy.”
When asked what her definition of a successful Filipina entrepreneur is, she is quick to say, “The path of an entrepreneur is not always paved with gold, it entails a lot of hard work, creative thinking, and a lot of endurance. It requires you to take caution and rethink your actions at all times. As a Filipina, we are marked as persons who never give up, who are palaban so we should always strive the best that we can be. No matter what obstacles you face, with discipline and a positive attitude, you can create the life of your dreams.”
Serving as an inspiration to a lot of women, she keeps her aphorism simplistic, “The secret to being a successful woman in today’s market is to walk to the beat of your own drum, listen to your intuition, and always follow through. Find your passion and believe in your own self. Take advantage of all opportunities and step out of your comfort zone. Continuous learning leads to continuous improvement. Commit yourself to advancing your knowledge, skills, and expertise. Dedicate yourself to every task that you are doing with passion and ambition.”
