It was day of celebration for budding optometrists when Essilor, a leader in ophthalmic lenses, launched the Philippines’ first Sight Center in the Philippines at the Manila Central University (MCU).

Featuring the most advanced technology in optical studies and vision solutions, the Essilor Sight Center offers MCU Optometry students a venue where they can perform hands-on examination and diagnoses in an ideal clinic set-up used by actual optometrists. It is fully equipped with vision screening rooms, clinical refraction equipment, and Essilor advanced tools.

Essilor general manager Dr. Emelita Roleda led the opening rites together with MCU president Dr. Aristotle Malabanan, MCU College of Optometry dean Dr. Christine Rodriguez, and Essilor marketing manager Jinky Navo.

Joining them was Essilor brand ambassador Piolo Pascual, who expressed his support of the project and reminded Optometry students to study harder now that they have access to this facility, the first of its kind in the country.

The Essilor Sight Center also provides an opportunity for Essilor and its partner institutions to give back to the community. Its clinic set-up allows students and on-the-job trainees to conduct free vision screenings, consultations on eyesight, and diagnose actual cases of vision problems.

Meanwhile, Uproar CamSur 2015 was an exhilarating experience for locals and foreign travelers.

Hosted by CamSur Watersports Complex and supported by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the three-day festival gathered international DJs, iconic bands, wakeboarding stars, and celebrities for a one-of-a-kind music bash and sports event.

Pumping up the party were British DJs Danny and Ilona Rampling and Ibiza’s legendary DJ Alfredo. Joining them were some of our very own top DJs Euric, Jay Matias, Katsy Lee, and Jessica Milner, while Pinoy rock bands Wolfgang, Razorback and Franco also took the stage to rouse the party-goers with their head banging and rip-roaring performances.

The event coincided with the 9th Philippine Wakeboard Championships where local and international wakeboarding champs entertained CamSur guests with their electrifying stunts.

Some of the celebrities spotted at the festivities were Phoemela Barranda, Bianca Manalo, Bubbles Paraiso, Mark Herras, Vandolph, Boy2 Quizon, Paolo Contis, Ketchup Eusebio, Sam Pinto, and Wynwyn Marquez, among others.
