THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has prohibited the sale of firearms at its national headquarters in Camp Crame. PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima made the announcement on Monday during a command conference where he was also quoted by PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Rueben Theodore Sindac as saying “the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) is not a gun store.” Sindac said the move was meant to correct the misimpression of corruption happening inside the FEO compound. He said uniformed and non-uniformed PNP personnel caught violating the order will be administratively sanctioned. The FEO is the unit of the PNP that regulates the sale, distribution and licensing of firearms and monitor its sales and importation.
