• Sen. Poe wants more protection for foundlings

IN a bid to provide greater protection for abandoned children in the country, Senator Grace Poe has filed a proposed measure seeking to improve the system of birth registration of Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP). “I am doing this no longer for myself but for the thousands of children who were abandoned, who might grow up never knowing their biological parents and whose dreams and aspirations may be limited because of their status,” said Poe. Poe, who is a foundling, has been a subject of a quo warranto case filed by a losing senatorial candidate Lito David. David in his petition filed before Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) last week claimed that Poe is not qualified to be a Senator because she is a foundling and therefore not a Filipino citizen.
