Cebuano Jan Godfrey Seno and Erika Manduriao of Manila dominated the first leg of Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Tennis Association Junior Tennis Championship Saturday after winning titles in their respective divisions at Laray Consolacion in Cebu.
Seno shone in most events after topping two different categories – 18 and 16-under boys – while Manduriao won the 16-under girls’ crown in the tournament organized by Philta Regional Vice President Juanito Cansino.
Seno defeated Clyde Bienes of Cebu in the boys’ 18-under finals, 6-2, 6-1, while did the same thing on Manuel Balce III in the boys’ 16-under class, 6-3, 7-5, to take home the two titles of the tournament participated by 100 participants all over the Visayas region.
Manduriao walloped Jana Pages of Cebu, 6-1, 6-1, to win the girls’ 16-under class.
In other finals results, John Velez of Davao won over Eric Louise Longakit of Cebu in the 10-under unisex class, 6-0, 6-2, while Jace Christian Unto of Cebu beat Cesar Kristoffer Salimbangon of Cebu 6-0, 6-0, to take home the 12-under boys’ title.
In the 12-under girls’ finals, Mariel Ann Villa of Cebu whipped Ellaine Rose Bahonsua of Cebu, 6-1,6-1, to bring home the crown, while Clyde John Laquio of Cebu rallied past Francis Gener Lambayan of Cebu, 2-6, 6-3,6-3, to bag the boys’ 14-under title.
In the 14 under girls’championship, Zethley Mae Alferez of Cebu trounced Kristin Renee Salimbangon of Cebu, 6-0,6-4, for the crown.
