THE Court of Appeals has declared as illegal the payment of $6 million in attorney’s fees to ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and her co-counsels for handling the international arbitration case between the government and the builder of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The court’s Special 11th Division, in a June 4 decision, reversed the ruling of the 17th Division upon a motion for reconsideration filed by the Philippine International Air Terminals Co., Inc. or Piatco.
