THE Metropolitan Manila Devel–opment Authority (MMDA) on Monday expressed alarm over the rise of what it described as obscene or those that display scantily clad models in billboard advertisements along metropolitan thoroughfares.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino has called on the various groups regulating the billboard advertising industry to look into the influx of these lewd billboards that might distract motorists.
He also said that many motorists admitted that they were distracted by the “sexy” billboards along the thoroughfares that sometimes lead to vehicular accidents.
“Anything that distracts moto–rists and drivers’ attention is dangerous,” Tolentino said. The MMDA, he added, would like to intensify its crackdown against these obscene billboard ads, regulatory bodies assured them that they police their ranks.
