DODGE shook things up at the recent Sema show as it revealed the new 2014 Challenger R/T Shaker, which is built for hardcore enthusiasts who demand a more throwback style but with easily upgradable performance.

Like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood, the 2014 rendition lives on with an engine-mounted hood scoop that “shakes” with the massive 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that spins out more than 540Nm of torque. Oh, and the Shaker hood is functional as it mixes together a Mopar cold-air intake, a conical air filter and an optimized air box for improved airflow, which, as any gearhead knows, lead to killer performance.

Adding more muscle to the car’s driver-selectable sport-mode powertrain calibration, performance-tuned suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and tighter steering is the Super Track Pack, which counts high-performance steering gear, brake linings, monotube shock absorbers, meaty 20-inch three-season tires and a three-mode electronic stability control that boasts a “full off” mode.

Finishing off the go-fast stuff is the Shaker style satin black hood, roof and deck-lid graphics, deck spoiler, body-color grille and fat 20-inch alloys. Of course, Hemi fender badges adorn the body.

Mopar. Hemi. Shaker. All these sound sweet.
