The Philippine franchise of world famous pizza chain Shakey’s said on Thursday it plans to open an average of 10 branches a year over the next five years as part of its expansion program in the country.
“We normally target around 10 per year,” said Shakey’s Philippines General Manager Jose Ma. Concepcion.
He added that they aim to open around 35-50 new stores in the next five years.
The pizza chain currently has 165 branches all over the country and is targeting to increase this to around 200 to 250 branches by 2020.
For 2015, Shakey’s has already opened a number of branches in various locations such as Mindanao Avenue, Southwoods, Mandaluyong Circle, BGC Stopover, SM Light Mall and Tarlac.
It also opened its largest branch outside of Luzon, the F. Cabahug branch in Cebu. The branch has a floor area of 450 square meters with a capacity of 52 tables that can accommodate a total of 140 persons. It also has a spacious parking lot of 21 slots and big function rooms for corporate events, family gatherings and birthday parties.
Shakey’s said that it targets to open nine more branches before the year ends.
Concepcion noted that the target number of new branches also includes the relocation of a few branches. He cited the relocation of their Mandaluyong Circle branch, which was moved to another area since the original site often experienced flooding.
Concepcion said an average of P15-25 million is spent to open a Shakey’s branch.
