Audi20130813AS the sporty spearhead of the Audi lineup, the R8 can’t sit still for long. And so Audi upgraded its high-performance sports car to make it more dynamic and powerful than ever before, thanks to numerous improvements that include a newly developed seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, which features a launch control function to provide optimal traction when taking off the line.

Power is delivered to the road via Audi’s quattro permanent all-wheel drive system that has a rear-axle bias. In its latest guise, the R8’s sprint times have improved by 0.3 seconds while fuel consumption has been reduced by as much as 0.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

The eight-cylinder engine powering the R8 V8 delivers 430 horsepower and 430 Newton-meter of torque. Combined with the fast-shifting S tronic, the power plant can hurl the R8 Coupé from rest to 100kph in a scant 4.3 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 300kph.

In updated form, the R8’s exterior has been further honed, with the car getting restructured all-LED headlights and rear lights, a single frame grille with tapered corners at the top, redesigned diffuser and large, round tailpipes. The R8 also received new choices of alloy wheels, which measure 19 inches and larger.

The best news? The R8 V8 is set to arrive in the Philippines soon.
