SHELL announced it has opened the registration for the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup where aspiring young Asia-based motorcycle riders aged 14 to 20 may apply to get an invitation to the selection process that will be held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
The registration runs until September 22, while the pre-selection event will take place at this year’s Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix on October 13.
Shell said the first pan-Asia motorcycle talent search will be a stepping stone for young riders in Asia to become world-class motorcycle racers. For the 2014 season, 22 young riders will be selected to compete aboard Honda NSF250R Moto3 race bikes in the first Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup. Races are set in Japan, Malaysia and Qatar. A race in India will also be staged alongside the World Superbike Championship, as well as other rounds in Indonesia and China.
“Shell is looking for the best of Asia’s young motorcycle talents, ” said Shell International General Manager for Marketing Consumer Brands and Products Andrew Hepfer. “We are giving young riders a unique chance to show the world what they are capable of and the most talented among them will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race at a very competitive level.”
