• Shiffrin destroys opposition to win slalom

JASNA, Slovakia: American star Mikaela Shiffrin stormed to a dominant victory in the World Cup slalom at Jasna in Slovakia on Sunday (Monday in Manila). It was the 20-year-old Olympic champion’s fourth win in as many slalom races this season and her 19th World Cup win overall. Shiffrin, who claimed the last three slalom crystal globes, won by a massive 2.36sec over the two runs, with Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener second and home skier Veronika Velez Zuzulova third.
