Shot Letran player stable, scheduled for operation



Letran basketball player Franz Dysam is in stable condition Sunday after being shot along with his girlfriend near the corner of N. Domingo and Araneta Avenue in San Juan City Saturday night.
In a press statement issued by Colegio de San Juan Letran management
said that the 24-year-old Dysam, who has been playing for the Knights in the NCAA for the past four years, was scheduled for operation Monday to remove four bullets in his body.
His girlfriend, Joanne Sordan, was killed in the shooting but their three-month-old son was unharmed.
The school’s administrators said that for security reasons they are withholding the name of the hospital where Dysam is recuperating. Two police officers and Letran personal security were also guarding him, the school said.
The player’s mother had arrived from Cebu, according to reports.

The fourth year management student, was said to have covered his girlfriend with his body as gunmen fired at them. One bullet his Sordan and killed her.

Police have picked up leads as to the motive of the shooting and has CCTV footage that captured the incident, according to Letran officials.
“The Letran community is behind Franz in his rally. All assistance, including moral and spiritual, is given him. He is consistently being prayed for especially by the Letran priests. Franz is thankful to all who are praying for him and his family, especially to the Letran community who never left him in this trying times,” the Letran statement said.
