Who wouldn’t be inspired by the good looks of Kathryn Bernardo, Liza Soberano, Julia Barretto, and Nadine Lustre? Certainly the “it girls” of Philippine showbiz today, they are also the muses of top fashion photographer BJ Pascual, who at only 27-years-old is all set to launch his book of retrospective this week, titled Push: Muses, Mischief & How to Make It in Manila.
Pascual took the fashion scene by storm, when as a college student at De La Salle University, he got into a T-shirt business with some friends and took charge of shooting and laying out a look book for marketing. The brand was a hit, thanks to the photo hobbyist, whose work also caught the attention of top fashion magazines.
Since then, BJ’s gifted eye landed him cover after cover in most, if not all, of the country’s established glossies. Recalling his journey, the glamour photographer said, “Push is like a road map for young creatives as look back on my first Instamatic as a child, all the way to getting my first big break as a contributor in a magazine.”
He complies some of his best works for Preview, Metro, Mega, Garage, Esquire Philippines, and Rogue through the years, while also sharing back stories behind some of his most compelling shoots.
As for his four muses, Bernardo, Soberano, Barretto, and Lustre land on four-way cover for the Summit Books title, which further features 24 new shoots with 14 of Manila’s hottest celebrities, including Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Kelsey Merritt, Janine Gutierrez, and Solenn Heussaff.
