Yaw-Yan Kampilan’s Ricswartz Sibal defeated Savage Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)’s Ronn Merchadesh via unanimous decision in the super mega fight of the recently concluded Balikatan 13 Pathway to Greatness at the Hybrid Yaw-Yan Headquarters in Cubao, Quezon City.
“I had hard time fighting against him. We have 75lbs weight difference. I did not think I’ll win the battle but just winning for my girlfriend,” said Sibal in an interview with The Manila Times.
Another Hybrid Yaw-Yan fighter, Miguel Samonte, dominated the super fight MMA rule event through second round referee stoppage after Axle Simeon of Savage MMA failed to defend against his ground and pound.
In the pro-am rule senior fight, New Blood’s Erdie Bautista won via technical knockout against Hybrid Yaw-Yan’s Jojo Tabang. Willie John Benedicto, also of Hybrid Yaw-Yan, beat UGB MMA Gym’s Kaji Ebin by submission through rear naked choke.
In the pure kickboxing rule event, Ace Darwin Ross of Yaw-Yan Kampilan won against Marc Philip Dela Cruz of MAP Rizal; their bout was also hailed Best Fight of the night.
In the pro-am kickboxing rule, Samson College MMA’s Famelo Tabanao and Yaw-Yan Kampilan’s Kimcyrus Vallejos both won via split draw. In the MMA Rule, Global Sikaran Federation’s Dave Servancia and Herdoza Fitness Gym’s Giovani Brasileno Jr. also won via majority draw.
The winners in MMA rule matches are Patrick Ian Leodones of Raizza Gym, Stephen Sitjar of Hybrid Yaw-Yan, Reynold Vargas of Global Sikaran Federation, Ronel Castro of Global Sikaran, Jun Recillo of Yaw-Yan Kampilan, Michael Dulnuan of Herdoza Fitness Gym, Robertson Abion of Yaw-Yan Alasan, Benjie Alboroto of Yaw-Yan MAC, John Vincent Miraflor of Hybrid Yaw-Yan, Ronel Castro and Franz Angelo Galvez of Extreme Boxing Gym.
Winning by default after their opponents failed to show up were Jomar Pal-iwen of Samson College MMA and Jason Bandosa of Ariva Boxing Gym.
In submission grappling, the match between Jose Maria Mendoza of Hybrid Yaw-Yan and Jerry Manalus of Titan MMA ended in a draw.
