Filipino-German Marc Sieber continued his dominating performance in Europe as he ruled the Turkey Futures 22 – Tennis Organization Cup held at the Belconti Resort tennis courts in Antalya, Turkey.
Sieber shocked top seed Nicolaas Scholtz of South Africa via an easy 6-0, 6-1 victory in the finals to pocket his fourth title this year.
The 28-year-old netter whose mother hails from Cagayan de Oro City, had a smooth sailing going into the finals.
He defeated Andrew Ruppli of Switzerland in the opening round, 6-3, 6-1; Michail Pervolarakis of Cyprus in the second round, 6-4, 6-4; Claudio Fortuna of Italy in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-2; and Fabiano De Paula of Brazil in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-0.
Sieber failed to complete a double victory when he and Italian partner Francesco Vilardo lost to De Paula and fellow Brazilian Pedro Bernardi in the finals of the doubles play, 1-6, 0-6.
Siber and Vilardo secured a spot in the championship round by ousting Thomas Ramos Da Silva of Brazil and Kshitji Kamal of India in the first round, 6-1, 6-3; Nils Brinkman of Germany and Thomas Statsberger of Austria in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-1; and Alex Blumenberg of Brazil and Jose Olivares of Dominican Republic, 6-4, 7-5.
Besides the Turkey Futures 22, Sieber, who dominated the 2010 Philippine Columbian Association men’s singles in Manila, also topped the Turkey Futures 17 in May, and Turkey Futures 15 and Turkey Futures 14 both held in April.
