GERMAN firm Siemens AG is open to participating in more projects in the Philippines that would require technology solutions, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez said on Tuesday.
“Siemens is open on projects that would need technology solutions like on smart cities, transport, rail, MRT [Metro Rail Transit], airports, as they provide these in major cities worldwide,” Lopez told The Manila Times via Viber message.
According to Siemens, achieving these goals would be possible with the appropriate technology solutions and supported by the array of innovations already being rolled out in markets.
During a visit to Manila earlier this year, Siemens Global Chief Executive Joe Kaeser was quoted as saying that
“It is up to the country to decide on who can do it best, because the last you should do is compromise on the technology solutions just because of some kind of money support.”
Siemens has already built a presence in the country as a turbine provider, turnkey contractor and technology solutions provider for various energy projects.
The German company hinted of further investments in the country not just by offering its latest innovations in the energy tech genre but also its other development solutions such as in the transport sector for smart mobility as well as security systems and other facets of infrastructure build-up.
“On this, part of creating our innovation ecosystem is to encourage more co-working spaces, accelerator programs that will germinate, level up, and fine-tune new business models, develop more disruptive technologies and link with venture funds,” Lopez added.
