• Sierra Leone accepts FIFA demand to reinstate FA

FREETOWN: Sierra Leone relented to demands by FIFA to reinstate its dissolved football association in an 11th-hour move on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) to avoid being banned from international competition. President Ernest Bai Koroma reinstated the Sierra Leone Football Association after two hours of crisis talks with officials from the National Sports Council. FIFA had given the west African nation until the end of the day to comply with the directive, but Sierra Leone’s authorities had repeatedly warned football’s world governing body to keep out of its affairs.
