GOVERNMENT’s sin tax collection in the first four months of this year has increased by more than P5 billion (up 16.5 percent) compared with January-April 2015.  Collections this year amounted to P35.50 billion against P30.47 billion in the previous corresponding period.

In April this year, tax on tobacco had dropped, but it was offset by increased collection from alcoholic products, thus raising the month’s sin tax collection up 1.1 percent to P8.89 billion from P8.79 billion a year ago.
