Philippine Basket Association (PBA) legend Avelino “Samboy” Lim is now in stable condition but remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of The Medical City in Pasig.
A source said that the latest update from The Medical City stated that the 52-year-old Lim, hailed as one of the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players who also earned the moniker “Skywalker, has improved a lot since he was brought to the hospital unconscious on Friday night.
“Samboy Lim continues to be in the ICU. His cardiac status and vital signs are currently stable,” said the source.
Lim, who was a member of the San Miguel Beermen from 1988 to 1997, was hospitalized after he collapsed during the Legend’s game at the Ynares Sports Center.
His teammates said he was doing some stretching when the incident happened. The former Letran Knights star and former national team standout played about six minutes in the game against the Resorts World team.
His elder sister Maricor, who just arrived from the United States, also confirmed that his younger brother is now in “stable” condition.
Lim is known as a fitness buff since his retirement in 1997.
