It is very true. The Morong 43 members are New People’s Army members, the hard core ones as we know it. The group were given the good chance to live a better life, to be productive, to live normal. Their release was a gesture of the government, an act of faith that leads to talking peace. They wasted the opportunity and threw it to the wind.
Ramon de la Cruz, who was a member of the Morong 43, died in an encounter in Remedios, Bulacan. He could have been alive today had he not gone back to the hills to continue fighting the government, the very government who gave him all the time to change for the better.
If you have family and friends who are still NPA members, encourage them to surrender and to instead join mass actions and activities for the good of all. Look at the Million People Rally at the Luneta last August 26, 2013. Thousands joined and air their sentiments peacefully, orderly and organized.
The rally was successful because it manifests that it is better to raise issues and concerns in a peaceful way rather them to use arms and violence like what was exhibited by Morong 43 member De la Cruz, may he rest in peace. To all of us,
“Mabuhay ang Kapayapaan!’
