The Sy-led SM Group bagged three awards and scored a total of five nominations for various mall developments and grocery outlets.
During the “19th Outstanding Filipino Retailers & Shopping Centers of the Year Awards,” organized by the Philippine Retailers Association and the Department of Trade and Industry, SM was also a finalist in the Shopping Centers of the year 2015- Small Category for SM Muntinlupa, and Shopping Centers of the year 2015-Medium Category for SM City Sta. Rosa.
The awards it bagged include the Shoppping Centers of the Year-Large Category for SM Megamall, Food retailer-Hypermart Category for SM Hypermart, and Food Retailer- Supermarket Category for Savemore.
During the awards ceremony, retail tycoon Lucio Co of Puregold Price Club Inc. was presented with the 11th PRA President’s Award and was recognized as the “Patron of Micro-Retail Entrepreneurship.”
Co was recognized for his contribution to the growth of the micro-retail entrepreneurs through Puregold’s Tindahan ni Aling Puring (TNAP) Program, which promotes the enhancement and development of micro-entrepreneurship in the Philippines.
Other retailers recognized during the awards night were Green Pastures Restaurant for Most Promising Retailer for Food; Worship Generation as Most Promising Retailer for Non-Food; LCC Expressmart as Regional Retailer; Urban Athletics as Specialty Retailer-Small; Pet Express as Specialty Retailer-Medium; The Travel Club as Specialty Retailer-Large; National Bookstore as Specialty Retailer-Large; Karimadon for Fashion Apparel-Small; Onesimus for Fashion Apparel-Medium; Surplus for Fashion Apparel-Large; Ace Hardware as Home Improvement Center; Krispy Kreme Stores as Food Retailer-Large; and Philippine Pizza Inc as Food Retailer-Mega.
For the Shopping Centers of the Year 2015 category, Pacific Mall-Legaspi won the Regional Category; Robinsons Place Malolos for the Small Category; Newport Manila for the Mixed-Use Township Category; and Lucky Chinatown Mall for the Medium Category.
