SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SMPH), the property arm of the SM Group, said on Wednesday it is set to open its 63rd mall, SM Cherry Antipolo in Antipolo, Rizal, on Friday.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), SMPH said the new mall is located along the bustling Marcos Highway and has a gross floor area (GFA) of 27,000 square meters (sqm).
Its opening would bring the company’s total GFA in the country to 9.1 million sqm.
“SM Cherry Antipolo is the third Cherry Foodarama outlet in the country that SM Prime re-opens to the public after acquiring the brand,” SMPH President Jeffrey Lim said.
“The opening of this mall provides the company a stronger foothold in the eastern part of Metro Manila along with our three other malls in Rizal Province, the SM City Masinag, SM City Taytay, and SM Center Angono,” he added.
SM’s newest mall will have branches of SM Supermarket, Ace Hardware, Watsons, and BDO Unibank. The three-level mall, with 55 percent of space already leased when it opens on Friday, also features a Skygarden on the second level, with covered dining areas and walking paths.
SM Cherry Antipolo is one of the six new malls of the SM Group this year. The others are SM CDO Downtown Premier in Cagayan de Oro, SM Downtown Tuguegarao in Cagayan, SM Puerto Princesa in Palawan and SM Lemery in Batangas.
SMPH is the property unit of tycoon Henry Sy.
