SY-LED SM Group is building another attraction within the 30-hectare SM Seaside City Cebu Complex after it opened a mall last month.
SM said a 1-hectare Ocean Park will rise within the SM Seaside City Cebu Complex, which is a part of the 300-hectare Cebu City South Road Properties (SRP).
“The opening of SM Seaside City Cebu this November signals the beginning of so many great news to all the families in the VisMin area, and among which is the soon to rise Cebu Ocean Park,” SM Supermalls President Annie S. Garcia said in a statement.
“Once the theme park is up and running, parents and their kids in Cebu and other neighboring provinces need not spend more and fly to Manila just to experience the world-class spectacular marine life attractions found at the Manila Ocean Park. In no time, it will be closer to home,” she added.
The 1-hectare Cebu Ocean Park will be done by SM Supermalls in partnership with Cebu Sealife Park Inc., the same group that brought the Manila Ocean Park to the country. Like the Manila Ocean Park, SM said Cebu Ocean Park is geared for an all-year, all-weather destination for both locals and tourists.
The theme park will have four main attractions: the Oceanarium featuring an acrylic enclosure for a 360- degree view of the main lagoon, Stingray and Crocodile Encounters, Sea Lion and Bird Shows, and Jellies and Penguin Exhibits. Convention rooms will also be developed as tourism and educational facilities.
SM said this is a part of the group’s promise to bring global lifestyles to Cebuanos, given Cebu’s fast-paced growth among other provinces in the country.
The Cebu Ocean Park will serve as a primary edutainment facility in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, housing thousands of marine creatures indigenous to the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
