Smart Communications Inc. and Digitel Mobile Philippines Inc. (DMPI) said on Tuesday that they have reestablished cellular coverage in the municipalities of Lawaan and Hernani in Eastern Samar; Biri Island in Northern Samar and the municipality of Naval in Biliran.
DMPI operates the Sun Cellular brand.
The telecommunications companies have restored services in 92 percent of cities and municipalities in the Visayas that were heavily affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda.
The two companies said that the network services in all the towns and municipalities in Antique, Bohol, Cebu, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Southern Leyte have been running since last week.
Smart and DMPI have restored network coverage in 100 percent of the towns and municipalities in Antique, Bohol, Cebu, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Southern Leyte that were also affected by the typhoon.
The companies have also restored services in Buruanga, Aklan and Alang-Alang, Leyte, bringing restoration to these provinces to 95 percent and 63 percent, respectively.
