Smartmatic is lone bidder

ONLY controversial technology provider Smarmatic Corp. has formally signified interest to participate in the P10.747-billion parallel bidding called by the Commission on Elections for two separate counting machines projects for the 2016 presidential elections. This surfaced after two successive days of pre-bid conferences by the projects’ respective Special Bids and Awards Committees. Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said it’s still too early to tell that Smartmatic is the lone bidder, considering that other interested and qualified bidders still have until June 29 and June 30 to submit their bid proposals.
